When is the code detected?

The P0571 codes is set when the stop light switch does not turn off even once the vehicle is driven.

Symptoms

– Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
– Stop light inoperative
– Cruise control system inoperative

P0571 Description

When the brake pedal is depressed, the stop light switch sends a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM). When the ECM receives this signal, it cancels the cruise control.
